Process - New Skills on Photoshop, Editing Images and Editing Magazine Pages

27th January 2014
Editing Images and placing them onto the magazine pages in indesign were the main tasks I was focusing on in today's lesson.
Photoshop frequently being used in order to edit the chosen images. With help from tutorials, I found out how to edit images in order to give a neat and clear presentation. I learnt how to airbrush the image without it looking obvious. Get the main features standing out - like the eyes and lips. The burn tool became a handy tool inorder to get parts of the images more visible, while keeping the exposure down. I also adjusted few images from the studio and outdoor shot. One of the outdoor shot images, I adjusted the image to make it black and white while balancing the contrast and brightness.
Quick Mask tool was also another handy tool to edit out the background in order to get a cut out image.

For the magazine pages, I focused more on the front cover and my contents page. My front cover had to be my weakest page. I had to choose between 3 images for my front cover. I screenshot each of the pages.

Production Log #17 - Progress, Evaluation and Audience Feedback

20th December 2013 - 4th January 2013
In the 2 weeks, I did not only focus on the progression of finishing off my magazine but also completing all the evaluation questions and making reference to my final product. Furthermore, I got opinions from the audience, and in order to get their views about my magazine, I created survey consisting 9 questions on survey monkey. With the questions, I made sure that each question or some where different instead of having a yes or no option as I can get a clear indication of their opinions.

I first focused on completing the front cover of my magazine, by adding all the sell lines, adjusting the positioning and the sizes of them - making sure they don't overlap or cover up the main image.
The contents page needed more images in order to make it look completed and finished. I got images from concerts which I've attended and included the contents page. I adjusted the colouring of the text and the size. I also included the subscribe section.

Before I started my article, I chose 2-5 images which were suitbale to use for my article and edited them by cutting out the background and giving the image a few tweaks such as brightening up the eyes and airbrushing the image.

As I have already wrote my article beforehand, to complete my double page spread there was no hassle about inserting the text as I had to copy and paste it. I decided to add a box out - 'fact file' which would make the page more appealing and not put off the reader.

The evaluation questions were broken down into 7 different questions, each referring to a different key concept. Audience, Representation and more.It made understand more about my magazine and how I wanted it to be. I refered back to my proposal and many other tasks in order for me to evaluate in full.

The audience feedback has given me an insight on what the audience has liked and disliked about the magazine. They also gave their own views about what specific thing they didn't like and like.

This task can help me improve my magazine with the views given by my audience. This can aid in making final product being successful. The audience are giving their views by looking at a draft magazine I have made. As this is my first draft I am expected to get many improvements which can lead to making my magazine pages a good success.
